Moving

The Arizona Department of Weights and Measures’ Moving Information page has resources for people moving their possessions and dealing with moving companies.  ARS §41-2066 describes the enforcement powers of the state’s Arizona Department of Weights and Measures.  This webpage describes the difference between moves within the state of Arizona and moves from one state to another.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Household Goods Program website has information about interstate moves.

U.S. Code Title 49, Subtitle IV: Part B: Motor Carriers, Water Carriers, Brokers, and Freight Forwarders, chapter 147 and chapter 149 detail certain requirements for moving companies.

The federal rules (in the Code of Federal Regulations) are in Title 49, Subtitle B, Chapter III, parts 370 -379.  See also Part 387 (Minimum Levels of Financial Responsibility for Motor Carriers).  Links to these laws and rules are posted at https://www.protectyourmove.gov/regulation-enforcement/regandenf.aspx .
